The judges, who included Mark Wallinger, Sacha Craddock and former England player David James, selected 69 works by 50 artists The exhibition runs parallel to the 2022 FIFA World Cup, celebrating one of the world’s most popular sports I’m delighted to have had 2 photographs selected for the show. They reflect the deep roots of football in everyday lives in Trench Town Jamaica. The sport is played and watched everywhere. Trench Town is home to two of Jamaica’s premier clubs – Arnett Gardens and Boys’ Town.

Shabba1980-2018

The photograph shows a mural inside a one-room house in Trench Town. It was painted by football fan and artist, Shabba, who organised football training and matches for local youngsters to keep them out of trouble. Shabba was shot in 2018 at the age of 38. The house, with its internal and external murals, has been kept unoccupied as a memorial to him.
