    Hemispheres / Happy Valley

  • Hemispheres

The ‘black swan event’ is a metaphor that describes something that is unimaginable that comes as a surprise, has a major effect, and is often rationalized after the fact with the benefit of hindsight. Imagine the shock and surprise the Dutch explorer, Willem de Vlamingh, felt when he stumbled across black swans in western Australia in 1697.

  • Happy Valley

The format of a framed diptych does resemble a window. ‘Happy Valley’ is from a series of images taken from hotel windows in Hong Kong. The images are enlarged through net curtains so that the buildings are seen through a fine tracery.
