    Compression

Facebook hosts 350 million photos each day and adds 7 petabytes of storage every year.
Every image has compression algorithms which reduce the file size but also degrade quality.
The second image in the diptych has gone through an exaggerated process of compression using photoshop and uploading the image to social media platforms then repeated to reduce the file size. The compression artifacts start to take on their own mozaic quality as the algorithms creates its own version of art.
The colours are then enhanced to bring out the artifacts and printed on archival matt paper
