FOCALISATION – Olympics International Print Exchange Touring Exhibition
-Art Museum of the Beijing Fine Art Academy & the
–China Printmaking Museum & will subsequently tour to other venues after the Olympics.
Approved & invited by the Winter Olympics Committee to represent Sri Lanka & the UK, as a bimodal émigré having dual nationality.
My screenprint titled ICE CUBE WATER CUBE, depicts how the Aquatic Centre (nicknamed the Water Cube) used for the Summer Olympics in Beijing 2008, is now being transformed into an ice rink (nicknamed the ICE Cube). The colours within my work are a combination of the Olympic logo, hence representative of all the national flags, with a greater leaning towards those of China & Sri Lanka.
