Daniel Preece

My recent paintings use the city as a starting point to explore formal issues of geometry and colour and to express the excitement and dynamism of the city.

These recordings from high and oblique vantage points hover between abstraction and figuration. They have evolved from a pictorial landscape tradition, working directly from observation.

My intention is to encourage the viewer to consider the city differently and I hope lead them to reassess their daily surroundings with a different eye.
