Mark Vaux
Marc Vaux

I am very conscious of the difference between rational thought, chance and the exercise of instinct (intuition) within the creative process and have sought ways in which all three can be employed together in forming images.

For example, taking the square As a simple basic structure, I use random procedures to determine the divisions of colour on each side. However it is with colour itself that I have most engagement, slnce the complex nature of chromatic relationships can only be realized through instinct. Motivation for such a process is naturally a complex matter but does have something to do with a deep need to identify and experience the life enhancing qualities of order and beauty which emanate from relationships that allow the senses to ‘sing’.

Ultimately it is through the psycho-physical properties of related colour and light that I seek to achieve this.
