David Tebbs

My recent concern has been depiction of the figure or part figure in a particular space. Attention has shifted from quite complex figure compositions to the single head, particularly the sleeping head and hands through self observation. Ideas have developed as a series with photographs providing source material. The work derives from the tradition of figurative oil painting but attempts to engage with contemporary issues of identity, authenticity and authorship. I hope to achieve paintings of controlled sensuality.
