Wendy Smith
The drawn line is a trace that records movement with respect to the surface on which it appears: the line is both a graphic entity and an exploratory tool. My drawings are about what happens on a given surface Linearity is a concept; in describing a line physically - that is, drawing the line - I come as close as I can to realizing that idea. In so doing, I am made aware over and over of the propensity of the surface to issue in quite startling spatial illusions. www.wesmith.co.uk |
