Georgina Hunt
Georgina Hunt studied at the Slade and Hunter College, New York. She lives and works in London, exhibits widely and has received national and international awards. Her work is held in many collections in the UK, the USA and Japan. Her paintings evoke a feeling of calmness and mystery and her special achievement is in liberating colour from the constraints of imagery. Guy Brett, in his introduction for the catalogue of her solo show at the Camden Arts Centre, wrote that Aldous Huxley, in his utopia 'Island' '...imagined a peaceful regenerative room in which a painting was hung. Georgina Hunt's large pictures have just this kind of effect, with their stilling of visual tensions and associational imagery in a luminous presence of colour.' 'These paintings are rich in the mysteries of space and light and in all their apparent simplicity how very beautiful they are.'
