John Crossley

My painting evolves through a state of addition and subtraction, enabling an orchestration of movements and bands to occupy an area, and emerge or recede to form an elusive arena, where absence and memory negotiate their boundaries. Flexible structures are formulated where mass, image and colour are evoked to generate an echo of natural energies. A contemplative space is formed where time, silences and distance coexist to create a dialogue. They instigate an open-ended space that brings into being a painting with the potential to expand beyond its boundaries.
